US Quaker lobbyists ‘say it with flowers’ - preview
American Quakers are using ‘flower power’ to reduce tensions in the USA over healthcare reform
Friends Committee for National Legislation (FCNL), the Quaker lobbying group in Washington, DC, is asking Friends across the USA to send flowers to their political representatives with a message of support The move comes as debate intensifies in the country over plans to allow wider access to health services
‘We remain of the belief that the United States and Congress needs to pass healthcare reform this year’, said Jim Cason of FCNL ‘As the debate here got more heated and, in our view, got away from a real listening conversation… it was important to bring a different perspective’
