Quaker Business Method at Meeting for Sufferings?
The report of Meeting for Sufferings in the Friend (12 June) included consideration of the proposed climate change public statement We read that when Meetings were asked whether they wanted Britain Yearly Meeting to make a public statement of commitment to sustainable living; of the 179 responses received all but three gave their support Examples were given of the enthusiastic responses but there was no mention of what the other three had to say Moreover, there was no indication that Meeting for Sufferings heard and considered those three responses I hope they did because otherwise those Friends who likened the recent trend to canvas opinion through questionnaires to be a form of voting will have been proved correct
