What is the QPSW Grants Group? - preview
The QPSW Grants Group is a functional committee of Quaker Peace & Social Witness Central Committee
  • Until a year or so ago, service on this committee could have been described as fairly pedestrian
  • The main remit of the group was oversight of the Hope Fund, which provides small sums of money to enable unemployed Friends to undertake various activities, such as participating in Yearly Meeting, attending courses and so on

  • More recently, the group devised what are known as Prospect Awards, intended to assist those seeking new employment
  • These small grants may assist with the purchase of machinery for self-employment or similar
  • The Grants Group also supports its sister group, the Higher Education Awards Group, by contributing to the latter’s purse when helping those seeking funding for further and higher education, to aid them in changing career direction
  • The Mountsey Fund supports education for children in Africa
