On ministry (part two) - preview
We recently welcomed to Meeting a photographer who wished to take pictures of us at worship
  • Feeling uncomfortable about that, we had agreed at our Business Meeting that we would worship as usual, mark the end of Meeting at the usual time with a handshake but then resume our positions for as long as the photographer needed to complete his work
  • As we settled back onto our benches and chairs after shaking hands, a Friend asked if we could still minister in this additional time and proceeded to add his ministry to what had been said shortly before the end of the Meeting
  • And suddenly there was a run of ministry, each piece building on what had gone on before, heartfelt and sincere, and some coming from Friends and attenders who normally never speak
  • When, ten minutes or so later, the photographer announced he had finished his work and we shook hands again we were all shaken by the power of the energy that had been released in that brief period but conscious that we had been participants in something very special in the life of our Meeting
