Lessons from ‘Love in action’
I was interested to read both the articles in the Friend last week on the situation in Palestine/Israel
Last November three of us from Bristol Area Meeting visited the area We were working with Palestinian and Israeli groups to promote a just and equal peace for both Palestine and Israel
We saw Palestinian houses that had been demolished only a few days before, with almost no notice to the inhabitants We witnessed the indignity of going through checkpoints We met those who suffer intensely because of the notorious eleven-metre-high wall that encloses many cities like Bethlehem, imprisoning Palestinians though giving freedom of movement to Jewish residents We heard how the ordinary Jewish Israeli is told lies about the Occupation and is taught that Palestinians are all enemies who want to wipe Israel off the map We were also targets of the rudeness and arrogance of some members of the Israeli Defence Force (IDF)
