Norwegian Quaker boost for Gaza
Quaker-backed child carers in Gaza have been working to provide psychosocial support to children following the recent conflict

  • All the children attending kindergartens supported by Quaker Service Norway (QSN) have been given space to express their reactions to the three weeks of fighting in the territory, which left 1,300 Gazans dead

  • Penny Heymans of QSN explained: ‘It has been decided that for the first week after the kindergartens reopen the teachers will concentrate on giving the children psychosocial support by giving them opportunities through drawing, music, singing and dialogue to express their personal experiences of what they have gone through
  • It was also agreed that the teachers will visit all the children’s families and make a profile for each child to identify their problems
