How odd, but how pleasing, that it wasn’t the usual suspects like Friends but Ian Hislop, editor of the shamelessly satirical Private Eye and star of the delightfully irreverent Have I Got News for You?, who in his Channel 4 documentary Not forgotten: the men who wouldn’t fight made certain that the conscientious objectors who refused to fight in the first world war were not forgotten as the nation was called upon to remember the heroism and sacrifice of ninety years ago
