God as defendant: a television drama - preview

God on Trial: BBC2, 3 September 2008.

What do you do if the other partner in a contract reneges? In this case it was the centuries-old covenant between God and the Jews
  • A courtroom was hastily convened in the unpromising space of a blockhouse at Auschwitz to debate the failure of the deity to keep his side of the deal
  • There was not much time to hear all the evidence – some of the litigants were about to die – but there followed a condensed history of the Jews from the exit from Egypt through the catastrophe at Masada to all the later disasters which have befallen this ancient race

  • Judy Kirby
