Inner and world peace - preview
Last Friday a packed Large Meeting House at Friends House awaited Thich Nhat Hanh Respected Zen Buddhist monk and founder of the Unified Buddhist Church based in France, his visit was organised by UK followers known as The Community of Interbeing (COI)
Speaking of inner and world peace, he explained how this can flow from being ‘mindful’ of each moment, even down to the in-breath and out-breath and to the most ordinary of daily activities, so that spiritual consciousness pervades all words and deeds He spoke of the Kingdom of God as ‘reality’, not ‘idea’ Doesn’t this all sound familiar to Quakers? At the end he was asked if he could speak briefly about the Christian God and Jesus, to which he replied very gently: ‘Everything I have said is about God and Jesus’ This moved me greatly
