Reflections on priorities for centrally managed work - preview
Jonathan Dale tackles the nature of ‘work’
The consultation on the Long-term Framework for our centrally managed work has come after a long period of reflection on our priorities, particularly over the period when our centrally managed work has been subject to cuts I believe that this context has had a harmful impact on the way in which the discussion has been framed over a lengthy period of some fifteen years or so
In the course of discussions about Quaker work I have repeatedly heard that 'we need to do the things that are uniquely Quaker' or those things that 'only Quakers can do' If there is any other organisation that works in the same field, we should encourage Friends to join it rather than to 'duplicate their work'
Jonathan Dale
