Cluster Munitions Convention
Oliver Robertson's article 'Over a hundred countries ban the bombs' (8 June) gives timely attention to an important recent diplomatic achievement, the Cluster Munitions Convention We do not get good news like this in the disarmament field very often and it is an achievement to be celebrated It represents focused and determined work by governments, international agencies and civil society organisations over many years and signifies an important step in prioritising humanitarian needs over the perceived requirements of military forces
