Climate for Change
Many of our journeys to and from Stirling were disrupted by floods in central England In our reflections during the week we were aware that European food production has been severely disrupted this summer by rain in the north and heat in the south Other parts of the world are experiencing extended droughts These are expected consequences of climate change and we can expect more frequent and severe difficulties in future
Environmental awareness and concern permeated Summer Gathering Climate change was a recurring theme in the morning plenary sessions, afternoon activities, in ministry during worship and in the under-19 programme and minutes We were all given leaflets with suggestions for keeping the Gathering green and encouraged to check out our carbon footprints
