Friends all set for prophesy - preview
The Friends World Committee for Consultation (FWCC) Triennial takes place in Ireland from 11 to 19 August, writes Jez Smith The central theme of the meeting is 'Finding the Prophetic Voice for Our Time'
Six areas of concern will be dealt with during the Triennial They are HIV/Aids, Young Friends, violence, environment, outreach/mission and the erosion of civil liberties
While there is business to get through each day, worship will feature prominently Lizz Roe, of Britain Yearly Meeting, will give input to the unprogrammed worship and Irish Friends will present semi-programmed worship Bill Medlin of Indiana Yearly Meeting and Stephen Wamboka of Uganda YM will lead programmed worship Northwest Friend Ken Comfort will share North American Evangelicals' worship and Cuba YM Friend Maria Armenia Y Reyna will lead Latin American worship
