Sharing the thin places - preview
Peter Fishpool of Warwickshire MM shares his personal experience of using new technology
Since the most compelling ministry in Meeting for Worship comes out of deeply felt experience, it is no surprise that much of Quaker faith & practice is from personal journals and reflective writings Margaret Fell, John Woolman, Beatrice Saxon Snell or Nick Putz put into words for us both the sharp grit and the grains of gold sieved out of human experience Carefully chosen words help us share our spiritual journey
September and October were thin places for me Thin in that I was closely in touch with feelings of mortality Jenny, my partner, had been feeling run down for months General disgruntlement gradually transformed into indefinable ill health After a two week holiday in her company full time, I was convinced there must be a medical reason for her assorted confused behaviours Eventually at the end of August a CT scan revealed a large brain tumour, boring in upon her brain A five-hour operation swiftly followed to remove it That Jenny's mother had died suddenly at the same age of a brain haemorrhage added piquancy to the situation
