Ending violence - preview
Brian Hodkinson, Bristol & Frenchay Monthly Meeting, shares his ideas
Reading Craig Barnett's article on Turning The Tide (17 November) with the telling paragraph which states, 'The workshop left me with a sense that the scale of violent oppression in the world calls for a response which is more competent, strategic, and effective than the kind of peace movement that we have at the moment', prompts me to write, for it speaks to a concern I have expressed for many years
The opening paragraph, detailing the different 'peace activities', brings to mind a time when I was also on a quiet street vigil Standing next to me was a young man, who after a short time muttered something to the effect 'This is useless, I want to be doing something' I didn't know him, he left, and I was unable to follow this up, so I don't know if in fact he ever did anything, but that contributed to me thinking along the following lines
