Country of the Week: Madagascar
Madagascar factfile and links

Madagascar is an island nation off the coast of Africa. It is the home of the ring-tailed lemur.

Madagascar has three registered Friends who meet at the Friends International Centre. Greetings to David and Lucie Andriamparison, and Alice Raharison! It is a part of Central and Southern Africa Yearly Meeting

It has a
history of Quaker missionaries and interest and today the project best known to Friends in Britain is Akany Avoko, adopted by Young Friends General Meeting as their appeal for 2005/6.

• Read Maud Grainger's article about Akany Avoko here

Malagasy is a new Equitrade chocolate company that comes highly recommended by Friends. The site also has a very nice photo of the lemur.
