Christmas Spirit - preview
Some 2006 years (give or take) since it all started, the angel saw that the birthday celebrations were going badly wrong
  • Very badly wrong
  • There was no helping it: she'd have to go back down there and give a few pointers
  • The crowded shopping mall seemed the best place to start

  • The angel drew a deep breath, stiffened her angelic sinews and prepared to join the fray

  • • • •

Liz went into the mall's cafe feeling as if she had no real right to be there since – technically – she wasn't yet worn out from shopping
  • That was still to come
  • The only thing weighing her down were three ludicrously long lists covering everything from fairy lights to brandy butter to extra washing up liquid
  • Still, she needed a coffee before she could face starting on it
  • She sat down at the last free table and tried to conjure up a bit of seasonal cheer

  • Sally Aspden
