Britain Yearly Meeting

Finding the vision for Meeting for Sufferings from 2007 onwards - preview
Meeting for Sufferings, the representative body of Britain Yearly Meeting, has been given a challenge – to find key visions for the Society of Friends in Britain
  • Recent articles in The Friend have urged us 'to confirm the Quaker way publicly and confidently', and 'to forgo the cut and thrust of disputation for a modern day missionary zeal'
  • The Friend is offering itself as a vehicle for this change
  • Friends, our moment has come!

Most Friends will know that BYM in May this year made the decision to appoint a new trustee body, to take on some of the tasks currently carried out by Meeting for Sufferings
  • From January 2007 the trustees will oversee the centrally managed work
  • This releases Meeting for Sufferings from some duties, and gives us opportunities for a new visionary role
  • The BYM minute reads:

Rachel Carmichael, Clerk to Meeting for Sufferings
