Oasis of peace - preview
Tony Crofts describes a visit to Neve Shalom
A group of nine of us recently visited the Neve Shalom/Wahat al Salaam Oasis of Peace village in Israel, where Jews and Arabs have chosen to live, and educate their children, together Built in individual styles on fifty acres of bare, stony land donated by a nearby Trappist monastery, it was the project of Dominican monk Bruno Hussar, and provides a profound spiritual experience and powerful witness of what, in the end, must be A huge amount of tree-planting has turned that waste into a true land of milk and honey We went to attend the inauguration of their new Spiritual Centre, a beautiful building whose large seminar room has a domed ceiling, plus all other facilities including a lovely outdoor pergola area for eating together, it has cost $1 million raised by French supporters
