Helping Children to develop spiritually… a joyful challenge. - preview
Under the excellent and expert guidance of Mary Stone, a dozen Friends met at Woodbrooke to explore this theme
  • It was good for us to have this time together and have this rare time of refection on how and why we do this work

  • We came from a range of meetings
  • Some are blessed with many children some with few
  • I use the word blessed deliberately
  • Children in our Meeting are not only the future but also our present
  • Seeing the large children and young people arrive to present their Epistles at BYM in York was a vivid reminder of this
  • JYM, Senior Conference and other summer gatherings for our Young People is an enriching experience for all involved
  • However, we must not forget that on a weekly basis as whole Meeting our children and young people are part of our spiritual life
  • It is not only the experiences in Children's Meeting that count
  • A really early memory for me is sitting next to my Father in Meeting for Worship and being aware that the silence was special
  • It felt different from other silence I was use to as an only child
  • It was deep, warm mysterious yet meaningful

  • Sarah Piercy, Luton and Leighton MM
