the blue which is its due - preview
James Turrell is an American artist of Quaker stock, who works with light
  • The Yorkshire Sculpture Park is showing three of his installations and recently launched its own Skyspace, Turrell's characteristic creation

  • April 27 2006
  • Twenty people crossed the field on the first day of summer, shedding the dress code's 'outdoor clothing' in surprise at Yorkshire's warmth
  • Under the three arches they entered a dark corridor, eyes barely adjusting to the floorline lights
  • Then in the cool green and white square space they adjusted their posture on the hard benches and became deeply silent

  • Susan Robson
