To CRB or not CRB?
What a question!
I am a Member of Wimbledon Meeting and mother of two daughters In a recent PM we discussed Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) clearance for those who wished to become involved with Children's' Meeting As we are a very small Meeting that means most of the adults Only very small numbers of children attend, usually ranging from 1 – 4 Some of us who had not had a recent clearance felt that we should do so, as directed by Friend's House, as some measure of safety for the children The argument is that it makes sense to have CRB checks for new members or attenders who wish to help with the Children's Meeting It is a crude instrument but it can reveal whether the person has a criminal record Others, including myself, with recent clearances for work feel heartily sick of another personal search which, in reality, is meaningless
