Ministry unfolds - preview

Thomas Swain talks about travelling in the ministry

Little did I realize that when I responded to the ad in the Friends Journal that I was stepping into a transforming occurrence of my Quaker experience
  • It was a simple ad: 'Cat sitter, February – March, Brighton
  • ' Since I planned to retire from the state of Delaware school system, I would have the flexibility to extend my time in England
  • I went through a clearness process with Middletown Meeting to 'travel in ministry'
  • Meeting discerned that it was best to be gone four months
  • They approved a minute to travel in ministry that was endorsed by Philadelphia Yearly Meeting
  • I bought my plane tickets to leave at the end of January and returning at the end of May

  • Thomas Swain
