A change of heart
The two articles on ‘A change of heart’ (28 August) show how our spiritual journeys can take us to different places along the way
  • I wish Sarah well as she moves away from Quakers, and, of course, welcome Helen as she finds her way in the opposite direction
  • Sarah says that she will not be leaving Quakerism behind but taking it with her
  • I felt the same when my life in Methodism eventually led me to Quakers
  • The Methodists would have been willing to transfer me to Quakers, but that is not the Quaker way and I joined through the normal channels
  • I did, though, persuade my Monthly Meeting to receive a letter of transfer from the Methodists
  • The letter was wonderful, along the lines of wishing me well on my spiritual journey
  • Is this something we should consider doing more frequently for those Friends who feel that their spiritual journey leads them to a different home?
