Letters - preview
Crisis of capitalism or challenge to our stewardship?
I think that John Eversley (Comment, 7 November) is too diffident about what he can do as an individual to change things
  • Oxfam arranged a small meeting in our town with three local MPs of different parties
  • They all begged us to write to them to put forward moral viewpoints on current issues
  • ‘We get many letters,’ they said, ‘asking us to support bigoted and unhelpful positions and we need to be able to prove that many people think the opposite’
  • They also urged us to reply to letters in the local paper and challenge opinions that we felt were wrong
  • They said that our voices would be heard – but did we use them?
